George Fenton (born George Richard Ian Howe; October 19, 1950) is an English composer best known for his work writing film scores and music for television such as for the BBC series The Blue Planet and Planet Earth.
Fenton was born in London and attended St Edward's School in Oxford where "he learnt his music" from Peter Whitehouse. He has no further formal training in music. Fenton's involvement with St Edward's continued as an adult and he has been a governor of the school since 1998.
Initially Fenton worked as an actor, getting an early break in 1968 with a part in Alan Bennett's first West End play Forty Years On. He had some success as an actor in the early 1970s appearing in the film Private Road, in Alan Bennett's first television play A Day Out directed by Stephen Frears, and in the soap opera Emmerdale Farm.
In 1969 Fenton tried his hand as a recording artist with a cover of The Beatles song Maxwell's Silver Hammer and in 1973 he dabbled in band management helping to get the folk-rock band Hunter Muskett a recording contract with Bradley's Records.
White Palace may refer to:
Palazzo Bianco (English: White Palace) is one of the main buildings of the center of Genoa, Italy. It is situated at 11, via Garibaldi (known at one time as Strada Nuova, and before that, Via Aurea).
It contains the Gallery of the White Palace, one of the greater city art galleries, and together with those of its neighbors Palazzo Rosso and Palazzo Doria Tursi, it forms part of a cluster of museums at that end of the street.
Constructed between 1530 and 1540 by Luca Grimaldi, a member of one of the most important Genoese families, in 1658 the palace passed into the possession of the De Franchi family, and in 1711 it was given by Federico De Franchi, its inheritor, to Maria Durazzo Brignole-Sale, his main creditor.
The new owners, between 1714 and 1716, carried out a decisive restoration of the building, adapting it to the tastes of the age. It subsequently earned the name White for the clear color of its exterior decoration.
In 1899, Maria Brignole Sale, the Duchess of Galliera and the last member of the family, divested the palace to become municipal property and thus destined it to become a public gallery.
Clay Walker is the self-titled debut album of American country music singer Clay Walker. It was released in 1993 on Giant Records and produced by James Stroud. The album produced four singles on the Billboard country music charts, of which three — "What's It to You", "Live Until I Die" and "Dreaming with My Eyes Open" — reached Number One. Respectively, these were the first, second, and fourth singles from the album. The third single, "Where Do I Fit in the Picture", peaked at #11. Additionally, "White Palace" peaked at #67 based on unsolicited airplay.
After hearing about Walker, James Stroud flew down to Beaumont, Texas to meet him and see his show. After being "completely impressed", Stroud brought Walker to Nashville to record demos and then signed him to Giant and they began work on the debut album. Stroud revealed, "Clay is very consistent, and that's pretty rare in such a young act. He's one of those artists who, when he sings and you hear him going down on tape, you just know. I knew it with Clint [Black], and I could hear it with Clay." Walker explained the meeting in SUCCESS by saying, "I finished the last song, chased Stroud to his limousine and asked him if everything was OK. He said yes and that he would see me in a couple of weeks to start recording an album."
She works the late night shift down at the hamburger house
She pins back her hair and Lord she gets them orders out
She's always smilin' when she sees me walk in
'Cause she knows I'll be stayin' just as long as I can
Them milk shakes must be good, 'cause I just can't get my fill
Since the first time she made me one I've been head over heels
The tag on her shirt says, 'Hello, my name is Alice'
And I'll be doggone if she ain't the prettiest thing I've ever seen in Dallas
Her blue eyes they shine brighter than the aurora Borealis
Lord she looks just like a queen workin' in that white palace
When she works the drive-through window I burn up a tank of gas
I get one thing at a time so I can make another pass
Well I bet I'm the only one who ever gives her a tip
'Cause I love to hear thank you comin' from those sweet red lips
Someday I'll get the nerve and ask her for a date
And we'll drive out to Ft. Worth and I'll buy her a T-bone steak
The tag on her shirt says, 'Hello, my name is Alice'
I'll be doggone if she ain't the prettiest thing I've ever seen in Dallas
Her blue eyes they shine brighter than the aurora Borealis
Lord she looks just like a queen workin' in that White palace
Her blue eyes they shine brighter than the aurora Borealis
Lord she looks just like a queen workin' in that white palace
